1. the flag said "BAYERN IN DFUMSCHLAND" it was just showing where they were at
2.the president Hindenburg was against the Nazism he ran as long as he could but eventually gave up his powers to Adolf Hitler.

assignment 7
chapter 6
- they got shot by the S.S. officers
- he got trampled when he fell because of a stomach cramp
- the rabbis son ditched his father because he didn't want the bother of him on his shoulders: and Elie asked god to give him the strength to never do what the rabbi's son did
- he played a song by Beethoven on his violin
- he helped his father by creating a commotion and they switched to the other side.
chapter 7
- he saved him from being thrown out by the dead
- he saw a son kill his father for just a piece of bread
- only twelve got out not including Meir Katz; they arrived at Buchenwald
chapter 8
- Elie ended up taking care of his father instead of his father taking care of him
- he was being beaten because he wouldn't be quiet
- he knew it was true but he didn't want to admit to doing what the rabbis son did to the rabbi and then went to go get soup for his father.
chapter 9
- they were set free
- every one fought against the Nazis
- they did not think about revenge but instead they thought about bread
- he saw himself and how he was so skinny an weak ; he would never forget how he looked

Assignment 6: Chapter 4 & 5 questions
Chapter 4
1. to see if they had gold crowns on their teeth
2.Beethoven is German music
3.he would get mad then he would beat up the people.
4.he pretended to be sick

6. franek warned Elie that he would have to pay double , franek beat up Elie's father
7. everyone was to scared to eat the soup in the cauldron except for one man who got shot trying

assignment 4:questions chapters 2 & 3
Chapter 2
Explain, "our eyes were opened, but too late." Where was the train at this point? through out the whole time the people were told about the horrible things that were happening but they didn't believe it till it was to late to believe the stuff that they were told. They were in Kaschau, town on the Czechoslovak frontier
2. What was foreshadowed by Madame Schacter's nightmare? the crematories
3. What did some of the passengers do to quiet Madame Schacter? the people gaged her and told her she would okay soon
4. Where did the train finally stop? birkenau
Chapter 3
When questioned by the S.S. Officer, why did Elie lie about his age and occupation?so that he could go with his father
2. What was the first horrifying sight that Elie at first disbelieved? he saw the babies and other people being thrown into the crematories
3. Explain what Elie meant when he said, "Never shall I forget these flames which consumed my faith forever." that after seeing the crematories he didn't believe that god could do such a thing. which led him into not believing in his god.
4. How did Elie change in a short time? he didn't believe in his faith any more
5. What was Elie's first impression of Auschwitz after leaving Birkenau? that it looked better than the other but it was still a hell.
6. What was the "compulsory formality" at the entrance to all camps? when they went they got a shower with hot water
7. What sort of identification was used on the prisoners? a tattoo of a number and some letters
8. Why was the prisoner in charge of Elie's block removed from his position? because he was to nice.
9. What were the prisoners' rations at each meal? a slice of bread and some soup
10.What was Bela Katz forced to do once he was chosen for his strength? he had to put people in the crematories including his father.

assignment 3, 2nd nine weeks
1.Moshe was a sort of janitor in the syanouge
2.He didn't know why he just felt it was necessary
3.He told people of the killings he witnessed and how he barely got away with a shot to the leg.
4.They thought he was crazy
5.1.people were not allowed to have riches of any kind. 2.they had to were a yellow star 3.they were watched by the Germans (the Germans could search their houses when ever they wanted) 4.they couldn't stay out past six 5.they were put into the ghettos
6.A small neighborhood for the Jews
7.They didn't think that the gods were actually doing this to them
8.It was so bad that the people were going to the bathroom in the corner of the train and were all very crowded
